Elling Nelson, 83, died at 9:25 p. m. Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Griffin. 520 Iowa street, from complications incident to old age.
Born near Viroqua, Wis. May 3, 1858. he was the son of Nels and Carrie Nelson. He was married to Miss Ingeborg Hoverson at Wells, Minn., March 22, 1881. She died three years ago.
A resident of Albert Lea, Minn.,for more than 50 years, he was employed on the Minneapolis and St. Louis railroad until 28 years ago, when he suffered an illness which left him an invalid the remainder of his life. He had lived with
his daughter here for past two years.
Surviving are three brothers, Joseph Nelson, Buffalo Center, la., Edward Matson, Charles City, la.,and Lewis Nelson, Blue Earth, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Sena Nelson, Blue Earth, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. John Waara, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. J. H. Kenevan, Austin, Minn., and Mrs. Griffin; a son, E. B. Nelson, Ellendale, Minn; five grandchildren, including Mrs. P. H. Brink, 520 Iowa street, Waterloo, and Irwin Kranebell, 315 Dane street, Waterloo,
and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and two daughters. The body was taken from O'Keefe & Towne funeral home Saturday evening to Albert Lea, where services will be conducted Tuesday at First Lutheran church by Rev. S. T. Sorenson, pastor
Burial will be at Lakewood cemetery, Albert Lea.
