WWII Army Veteran, Bronze Star. Married to Lucy for 66 years. Father of five children, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. One in a million. Perfect example of a life well-lived.

High Point- William Borah Copeland, 87, died on November 27, 2013 at Clare Bridge Nursing Center. Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Saturday, November 30, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Bill was born in Dobson to the late Jesse and Vergie Smith Copeland. He retired from Sears-Roebuck Catalogue Distribution Center as a manager with 40 years of service. From 1944 to 1946 he proudly served our country in the US Army during WWII and received a Bronze Star. He met and proposed to the love of his life Lucy Epperson, the first time he met her on a blind date in Mount Airy. Sixty-six wonderful years later, they have raised a family, traveled through the forty eight contiguous states, loved dancing together and enjoyed their retirement in each other's company. Bill enjoyed playing golf, was a member of Green Valley Country Club and of Greensboro Elk's Lodge #602. He will be remembered as an extremely friendly and selfless person, often going without so that he could help someone in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Copeland of High Point; children and their spouses, William Thomas Copeland (Faye) of Ft. Myers, FL, Robert Franklyn Copeland (Kathy) of Alpharetta, GA, Joel Edwin Copeland (Lori) of High Point, and Linda Murdock (Keith) of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by all of his seven siblings; Marie, Elizabeth, Lincoln, Clyde, Gurney, Doris, Tommy, and son Larry Samuel Copeland.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Clare Bridge Nursing Center and Skeet Club Manor for the care and compassion shown Mr. Copeland during his residency. On line condolences may be made to www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com.
