Bud attended Kilgore Junior College prior to transferring to Southern Methodist University where he played football with the great Don Meredith. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and later traded to the Dallas Cowboys where the great Tom Landry was his coach and Don Meredith was the quarterback.
Later, Bud attended the University of Houston where he received a Doctorate of Law in 1966. His law practice was always located in the City of Dallas. His great love of law was very instrumental in inspiring and mentoring many others to join the legal profession.
