Herbert Dean Barnes
MONTICELLO — Herbert Dean Barnes, 57, Rt. 1,
Burnettsville, died at 3:43 p.m. Monday In Home
Hospital, Lafayette, after an extended illness.
He was born April 6,1930, in Burnettsville to
Thomas V. and Dena C. Erling Barnes. He was
married Aug. 28,1954, in Burnettsville to Jane
Haynes, who survives.
He was a lifetime resident of Burnettsville.
He was a farmer and retired in 1982 as
Burnettsville postmaster.
He was a member of Burnettsville Baptist
Church, Masonic Lodge, Burnettsville, and
American Legion and Moose Lodge, both of
Monticello. He was a Korean Conflict U.S.
Army veteran.
Also surviving are two sons, Brad, Nappanee,
and Brian D., Burnettsville; a sister, Dorothy
Evernham, Evansville; and three grandchildren.
A daughter and a brother preceded in death.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in
Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Raymond Skelton officiating. Burial, with
military graveside rites, will be in Davis
Cemetery, Burnettsville.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in
the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Lung Association.
