MONONA: Donald M. Nicks, age 72, of Monona passed away on Sunday, August 24th, 1997 at a local hospital. He was born on November 1st, 1924, the son of Leslie & Bernice (Hendricks) Nicks. He married Mary Sobek on May 21st 1947 in Muscoda, Wisconsin. He was employed many years by Neuendorf Transportation Company and later for ANR Freight Systems. Donald was a First Sergeant in Germany during World War II. He is survived by his wife Mary; two brothers Gerald (Ruthie) Nicks and Allan Nicks, both of South Bend, Indiana; a sister Mary Jean (Ron) Lesher of Edwardsburg, Michigan; Many, nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 6th, 1997 at 3:00 PM, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5101 Schofield Street, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Friends may call from 2:30 PM until the time of service at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to IHS Endowment Fund in Donald's name. Gunderson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
