Richard A. Wallander, Glendale, Calif., passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born on Jan. 17, 1954, in the town of Cato, Wis., to Alvin and Margaret (McCulley) Wallander. Rick graduated from Reedsville High School in the Class of 1972. After receiving his bachelor's degree from UW-LaCrosse, he moved to California to begin a career in construction. On June 26, 1978, he married Barbara Dunning and is blessed with two daughters, Cady (Will) Johnson and Taylor; one son Adam; two grandsons and one granddaughter all born in November 2011.

Rick is further survived by Donna (Richard) Quinn, Eve (Richard) Engelbrecht, Dorothy (Wayne) Dirkman, John Jacobs, John L. Wallander, Jeanne (Hank) Shimek, Jerome (Karen) Wallander, Sister Margaret Ann Wallander, Luella Wallander, and Jane Wallander; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are Mary (Alfred) Haefke, Judith Jacobs, and brothers, William, James, and Charles Wallander.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Church in Clarks Mills, Wis., on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. The family expresses gratitude for the love and support in this time of sudden loss. Just days ago, Rick was tentatively diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. In keeping with the Easter season of celebrating resurrected life, we affirm our faith and hold in memory how Rick has touched our lives.
