PVT Rocco Addessa was just 28 years old when he died in France during World War II. He crossed the English Channel with his Band of Brothers in the 317th Infantry, 80th Division in August of 1944, just two months after the D-Day invasion on the beaches of northern France. The 80th Division was considered "the workhorse" of General Patton's 3rd Army. The first combat was at the LeMans bridgehead near St. Jores, France. Their nickname was "Blue Ridge" and their slogan was "Only Moves Forward". And that they did, all the way to the Ardennes in France. PVT Rocco died in late November of 1944, just days before the "Battle of Bulge" got underway in late December of 1944, that battle being the last ditch all out offensive of the German's in the War. PVT Addessa was one of 3,038 men of the 80th Division who gave their lives during World War II. He is listed on the Gold Star Family Registry.
