WARREN, Minn. - James P. Abrahamson, 77, Warren, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
James Paul Abrahamson was born May 8, 1926 to Helen Abrahamson in Minneapolis. He grew up in Vega Township and went to school in Warren. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and was a radioman on board the Navy ship Whitesides and saw much action in the Pacific. He was discharged as a disabled Veteran.
After his discharge, he worked on the railroad and as a plumber in Warren while farming part of his homeplace. He then moved to Grand Forks and was employed by Minnkota Power. Later he began working for PCA and transferred to Hallock as the manager of PCA. In retirement, he moved to Warren.
On April 2, 1997, he married Eunice Bren Wages. He was a loving, caring husband and father to nine children; Jack (Darlene) Abrahamson, Thief River Falls; Paul Abrahamson, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Gay (John) Oehlke, Minneapolis; Teresa Smith, Golden Valley; Deborah (Curt) Myrfield, Warren; Ward Wages, Fargo; Mary (Rick) Thomas, Valdez, AK; Paul (Karlene) Wages, Coon Rapids; and Eleanor (Dean) Peterson, Warren. The house of Jim and Eunice Abrahamson has 64 precious gifts of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his mother, guardian, Emily Johnson, and son, Timothy Abrahamson.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at the Alvarado Baptist Church, Alvarado.
Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.
Military services by the Warren American Legion Post #27.
Officiating was Rev. Jon Hartman.
Honorary Pallbearers were Leo Sinn & Milton Hedlund
Active Pallbearers were Walt Hillman, Ward Wages, Jeremy Abrahamson, Chan Swensrud, Robert Anderson, Paul Wages.
