He was the son of Mrs. Grace M. Sterling and the late John Quincy Sterling, and the husband of Mrs. Catherine Sterling.
Mr. Sterling was in the employ of the American Stores for the past few years, where his accommodating manner and his courtesy made for him a host of friends.
He was a fine type of citizen, friendly, and interested in people and their problems, and was helpful in a quiet, unassuming manner to many people in many ways. His death has been received with sincere sorrow by relatives and friends alike.
Mr. Sterling was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 29th Division overseas. He was a member of the American Legion, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an active member of the Crisfield Lodge of Elks.
Rev. Frank Nason and Rev. Wilbur Whalen officiated at the funeral services, and interment was in the American Legion cemetery in Crisfield, where full military honors were paid him by members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and members of Company L, Maryland National Guard.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Catherine Sterling, his mother, Mrs. Grace M. Sterling, two sisters, Mrs. Pansy Lee Landon and Mrs. Messy Taylor, an aunt, Mrs. Angie Sterling and an uncle, Mr. Frank Sterling, all of Crisfield.
