PIONEER RAVEN
CITIZEN PASSES
James Milton Hawkins, 81, of
Raven, died at his home Satur-
day night following an illness
of over six months. He was
born in Washington County, Va.
son of late Phleas and Fannie
Hawkins. He had lived in
Raven for over 35 years. His
last work was with the Virginia
Department of Highways where
he had been employed for 16
years.
Surviving are his wife the
former Miss Maggie Reedy,
eight children, Robert of
Caretta, W. Va., Grant of Clint-
wood, Henry of the U. S. Army
in Fort Knox, Ky., Cecil in
the Air Corps, Bowling Air
Field, Washington, D. C., and
Fred of Portsmouth, Va., Mrs.
Hazel Lawson, Raven, Mrs. Lena
Dorton, of Richlands. Five
brothers, Charlie Hawkins,
Knoxville, Tenn., Joseph,
Modesto, California, Phleas
Abingdon, Va., and Walter of
Abingdon. Eight grandchildren
and one great-grandchild also
survive.
The body was removed from
the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home
to his residence Sunday after-
noon. Funeral services were
held from Raven Methodist c
church Tuesday at 1 p.m. with
Rev. Wallace Morgan of Raven
and Rev. Stocker of Berwind,
W. Va. officiating. Burial
in Hankins cemetery.
