Jerry A. Vernail Sr., 83, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, July 10, 2017, in the select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe. He was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Irwin, a son of the late Henry M. and Linnie (Winter) Vernail. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an economics teacher for Norwin School District and also a licensed real estate agent for E.R.A. Wilson Baum Reality of White Oak. He was a former member and past president of the Norwin Jaycees; a member of the BPOE 7313 of Norwin and the Jacktown Ride and Hunt Club. Jerry previously served on Irwin Borough Council, where he was past president. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his three children, Doris (Furlong) Vernail; a son-in-law Blake Cenkner; and a grandson, Matthew Cenkner. Surviving are his wife, Joan (Marchand) Vernail; children, Jerry Vernail Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Greensburg, Robert Vernail and his wife, Angela, of Leesburg, Va., and Leslie Cenkner, of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Lauren, Zachary, Victoria Rebecca and Sarah Vernail, Hannah Cenkner and Jenna Jenschke; stepchildren, David E. Rosendahl, of Dallas Texas, Kristen Leigh Jenschke and her husband, Scott, of Kennesaw, Ga., and former daughter-in-law, Annette Vernail, of Purcellville, Va.
There will be no visitation or services. Entrusted with the arrangements is the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin.
