Ernie was born on July 19th, 1937 in New Haven, CT.
He graduated from West Haven High School and then Boardsman Trade School. He proudly served in the US Army as a Military Policeman 1960-1963, which included a tour in Korea. After his discharge from the Army he worked for the State of CT Department of Transportation as a Senior Highway Engineer. He retired from that position after 38 years of service.
He continued his work career at the National Amusements Movie Theatres in their maintenance department and retired from there after 15 years of service.
Ernie was a Cub Scout/Boy Scout Leader on and off for 40 years. He volunteered as a coach for Little League baseball and Youth soccer for the city of West Haven. Ernie enjoyed fishing, reading but his most favorite thing was camping in his RV and playing cards with his sister..
He is the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and ecstatic great grandfather of 9 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents Ernest H and Alice Barnes, Sr.
