Mae Marie Koster, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. John's Hospice. She was born May 10, 1946 in Springfield, the daughter of Paul and Hazel (Bell) Koster.

She attended Stuart Elementery School, Franklin Jr. High, and graduated from Lanphier High School, class of 1964. Mae Marie was a Secretary Extraordinaire, holding positions at Massachusetts Insurance, Sangamo Electric, and Capital City Paper Company before moving to SIU School of Medicine, where she was employed from 1978 – 2004 as an Administrative Assistant to the physicians in the Department of Plastic Surgery. Following her retirement from SIU, she served as the Secretary at Knox Presbyterian Church from 2006 – 2013.

Mae Marie loved her cat, shopping, day trips in the car, and eating out with friends. She was a dedicated and faithful member and officer of Fifth Presbyterian Church until its closure, after which she transferred her membership to Knox Presbyterian. She was previously active in the Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, and held a variety of positions, including President, Vice-President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Board Advisor, Parliamentary Advisor, and Illinois Division Finance Chair. She served as a member of the Presbytery of Great Rivers Lay Pastor Academy Task Force from 1995 – 1998. She was also a member of the local Teal Time Ovarian Cancer Support Group.

Mae Marie was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by several cousins, her beloved church family at Knox Presbyterian, her devoted caregiver Colleen, and a host of friends.

Visitation: 4–7 pm, Monday, December 2, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Knox Presbyterian Church with CRE Kathy A. Swaar officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
