He was born on a farm in Illinois and came to Kansas with his parents in September, 1876, and settled in Marion County, Clark Township.

"D.D. McIntosh: Postmaster. Mr. McIntosh was appointed Postmaster by President Roosevelt and served six years. He then was assistant Postmaster for nine years. When President Coolidge was elected, he again was appointed Postmaster and is still filling that position. Mr. McIntosh was born in Illinois, but with his parents moved to Marion where he received his education, attended the Marion High School. He attended the Normal school at Salina and then returned to Marion county where he taught school for eight years. Receiving the appointment of County Clerk, he accepted it but resigned to accept the appointment and was later elected to the next term, of Postmaster. Mr. McIntosh is a member of the Advisory Board of the Methodist church, an active member of the Kiwanis International and a member of the Board of Education. He is a property owner, having lived here fifty years continuously, rearing a fine family of which he is justly proud."

In 1901-02 he was the teacher at Marion County School District #87 (Warren). He was at the same school in 1902-03 where he had a 7 month contract and a salary of $55.00.

He served 21 years in the postal service, retiring in 1938. He was converted in a revival meeting at the Warren School house in 1893 and united with the Methodist class at Clark. He transferred his church membership from the Clark class to the Marion Methodist Church in 1906. He served 12 years as Sunday School superintendent and taught a boys' class for 15 years. He served on the Board of Trustees and numberous other committees during his long association with the church.

He was a member of the Board of Education for 10 years, a charter member for the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1906.
