Robert was born in Illinois on April 29, 1960 to Irmgard Auktor Lane and the late Ezra Eugene Lane.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by PORTOLA Packaging as a mechanic supervisor and was formerly employed for 20 years with Landow Corp., Washington, DC.
In addition to his father, his brother, Joseph Lane preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Imgard Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sisters, Erika McKenzie and husband, Ken, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Susan Filion and husband, Larry, Goldsboro, NC; brothers, Eric Lane and wife, Kay, Albany, GA, Chuck Lane, Marlboro, MD, Richard Lane, LaRanger, LA, and Stephen Lane, Johnson City, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at11:30 a.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265 following the service at 1:45 p.m., Tuesday at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
