Neva L. Ascher, age 96, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. She was born in Mt. Carroll, Ill on April 2, 1917 to the late John and Grace Hartman. After graduating High School she attended Business College in Sterling Illinois. Neva was employed by Bennet & Haefer Inc. in charge of accounts receivable and retired in 1961. She married Walter E. Ascher; he preceded her in death on April 26, 1976. Neva moved to Sauk Prairie in 1994 to be closer to her son, Stanwood. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, watching baseball and football, and spending time at her son's cottage on Lake Wisconsin in the summer. She is a member of the Concordia United Methodist Church, Prairie du Sac and was a past member of the Women's Circle of the Church, and of the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Neva is survived by her son, Stanwood Ascher, Prairie du Sac; a niece; Sharon (Larry) Nelson, and their two children, Marc (Angel) Heitter and Michelle Heitter; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, at 11:00am at Concordia United Methodist, Prairie du Sac. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport, Ill.
