J.C. LaVern Hodges, 87, of Chester died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Caulksville.

He was a former machine operator for Whirlpool, a member of Chester Freewill Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and the widower of Dorothy Hodges.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chester Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Vaught Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Alma.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebekah Stephenson of Chester; a son, David Hodges of Fort Smith; a sister, Wanda Smith of Hot Springs; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary McKee, Jobe, Newton and Charlie Adair, Kenny Reed and Anthony Seratt.
