Gottlieb married Louisa Margaretha STOECKLE in 1866 in Gnadental, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. This union was blessed with no less than 12 children; Elizabetha Margaret, George, Johann Friedrich, Heinrich, Gottlieb, Johann, Pauline, Maria, Gottlob, Elisabetha, Friedrich and Emma.
Gottlieb at the age of 45 with his wife, Louisa and their children; Elizabetha, George, Johann, Pauline, Maria, Gottlob, Elisabetha and Friedrich, immigrated to America via the Port of Bremen, Germany aboard the SS "Saale" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 18th of May 1889.
The WELLER family initially settled in Whitestone Township, Dickey County, Dakota Territory. In about 1904 Gottlieb WELLER took on a homestead in McIntosh County, North Dakota, which he received Patent for on the 13th of January 1908 (W5, Twp 130N, Rge 67W, ¼ of Sec 1, 161.08 Acres).
Gottlieb WELLER died on the 13th of August 1913 and was buried less than 1 mile SW of his homestead in an unnamed pioneer cemetery.
