Dorothy Mae Grodi, 83, of Perrysburg, OH died, Thursday, December 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. She was born on April 8, 1930, in Toledo, OH to Charles D. and Emma Mae (Tyree) Suhr and was married in Waterville, OH on July 2, 1949 to Daniel E. Grodi. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2002.

Dorothy worked for over 30 years as a communications engineer with Ohio Bell.

After her retirement in 1985, she enjoyed working at the House of Tradition in Perrysburg. She was a former member of Zoar Lutheran church in Perrysburg, where she was active in their ministries, before joining St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a passionate collector of bears, dolls, and music and movie media. Her whole life was spent in dedicating herself to multicultural equality, especially for Native Americans and African Americans; and supporting the poor. For many years, she also volunteered at the Toledo Museum of Art, and was an avid football and basketball fan.

She is survived by her son, Marcus C. (Marilyn Crown) Grodi of Dresden, OH; grandsons, Jonathan M. (Teresa Pangle) Grodi, Peter D. Grodi and Richard C. Grodi; great-grandchildren, Dominic Grodi and Lucy Grodi; brothers, Charles A. (Mary Lou) Suhr of San Antonio, TX and Keith (Rori) Suhr of Waterville, OH. She was also preceded in death by both parents and her stepmother, Mary Ellen Suhr.

Friends will be received from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133), where a Rosary Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose Church, 215 E. Front St. in Perrysburg with burial at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, OH. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to, EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network), 5617 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AL 35210 or to St. Rose Church.
