Obituaries: Gadsden Times, Wed., 23 Dec 1981

Howard O. Hemby, 68, 1204 S 12th St, died Tuesday at a local hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3:30 pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Troy Morrison officiating. Burial in Forrest Cemetery.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Kathryn P. Hemby, sisters Mrs. J.B. Scarborough, Gadsden, Mrs. J.D. Herrington, Mt Olive, MS, Mrs. J.M. Frazier, Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers: Willis Livingwood, J.T. George, G.H. Heard, Jimmy Haney, Louis Cox, S.L. Norwood, J.W. Moore, S.M. Sherrer, I.J. Patterson, John Brown, E.L. Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers: Drs. Corley Odom, Chaihan U Korn, and James Lowery, nurses and staff of Cardiac Care Unit Holy Name of Jesus Hospital, all personal friends. Mr. Hemby was a native of Covington County, MS and resident of Gadsden for 43 years. He was a member and deacon of 12th St Baptist Church, and served as secretary of the Adult II dept and as an usher.

He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber company after 30 years service in the engineering department. The body will remain at the funeral home through the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening.
