Note: while the first death notice/story about the death of Jacob that was published in the Fairfield Ia. Daily Ledger listed his DOB as January 12, 1869, the subsequent fuller obituary published on November 23rd listed the DOB as January 27, 1867 (Note: there are also Lutheran church records that tend to support that date). The headstone inscription puts the DOB year as 1868. Not knowing how to reconcile these differences, will use the 1868 headstone inscription version for this memorial, leaving out the month and day.

The DOD of November 2, 1931 appears to be credible in all accounts, so will use that for this memorial.

LOCKRIDGE MAN PASSED AWAY

Jacob C. Faber Died At Home of Daughter, Mrs. Wayne Voorhies

Jacob Christian Faber, 62, father of Mrs. Wayne Voorhies (sic), of this city, passed away at his daughter's home, 206 West Hempstead street, this morning. He had been ill health for about a week and came from his home in Lockridge to stay with his daughter, who is the only surviving member of the family. His condition was unchanged Sunday but he was found dead in bed this morning.

The body was taken to the Hoskins funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

Mr. Faber is well known in Jefferson county, having spent his entire life here. He was born January 12, 1869 (sic). His wife preceded him in death.

OBITUARY

JACOB C. FABER

Jacob Christian Faber was the son of Henry and Barbara Faber (sic), born in Jefferson county, Iowa January 24, 1867 (sic). He was united in marriage to Louisa Graby December 2, 1891, who preceded him in death five years ago. To this union was born one daughter, Alma Rosa, now Mrs. Wayne Voorhies (sic).

Mr. Faber passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wayne Voorhies (sic), 206 West Hempstead street, Fairfield, Iowa, on November 2, 1931, at the age of 64 years nine months and eight days.

There remains to mourn his home going, his daughter and a niece, Mrs. Velma Voorhies (sic) who was raised in the Faber home since she was seven years of age; two brothers, Lewis of Spickard, Mo., and Ben of Cedar Rapids, one sister, Mrs. Fred Weidner of Brighton, and three grandchildren, Ronald, Gerald and Warren Voorhies (sic).

He was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, baptised and confirmed at Germanville later transferring his membership to Trinity Lutheran church at Lockridge where he resided. During the last years he spent a good portion of his time in Fairfield and attended services here.

Funeral services were held from the church November 4, 1931 with interment in Evergreen cemetery.
