Son of Joseph and Maria (Santorum) Angeli, he was born and educated in North Adams schools.
He entered the US. Army on May 13, 1943, and served as a light mortar crewman with Company I of the 111th Infantry Regiment in the South Pacific Theater of Operations. He was in the battles of the Central Pacific, the Eastern Mandates and the Western Pacific and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal for his service.
Following his honorable discharge as a private first class on Nov. 26, 1945, he returned to North Adams and was employed with the Boston & Maine Railroad, North Adams. Later, he was a member of the North Adams Police Department and before his retirement in 1975, he was last employed with the former Arnold Print Works, Adams. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His wife was the former Elaine Arlene Benoit, whom he married on July 21, 1961. She died Oct. 27, 1984.
He leaves six daughters, two sons, 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, a brother, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.
A brother, North Adams Policeman George O. Angeli, died July 8, 1960.
