DEATH CALLS AN AGED LADY
MRS. MARY LEAR, WHOSE SON RESIDES IN THIS CITY, BURIED AT NEWARK, MO.

Newark, Mo., March 26.—The remains of Mrs. Mary E. Lear, who passed away at Hannibal yesterday, were laid to rest in the family lot here this afternoon, the funeral services having been held at Knox City. Deceased had resided here with her husband, a pioneer merchant of the place until about twenty years ago, when his death occurred. She then removed to Hannibal, where she had since resided with her granddaughter, Mrs. Joseph Lake. She was born in Pennsylvania September 14, 1834 [sic], and was aged more than 74 years at the time of her death. A faithful member of the Presbyterian church, she was a woman whose many friends knew and valued her for her gentle, kindly deeds and ways, her deep affection and her desire to do good to all.

DEATH OF MRS. MARY E. LEAR
A WELL KNOWN HANNIBAL WOMAN, WHO LEAVES A SON IN QUINCY, PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY.

At 10 o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Mary E. Lear died at Hannibal. She had been in feeble health for some time and three weeks ago she was removed to the Levering hospital. She was suffering from heart trouble and a general breakdown of health consequent upon old age. She was born in Chambersburg, Pa., and had resided in Hannibal about nineteen years. She was at the time of her death aged 74 years, 6 months and 11 days. She made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Joe Lake, in Hannibal, and leaves three sons as follows: John Z. Lear of Komo, Col.; James M. Lear of Quincy, and Z. A. Lear of Santa Barbara, Cal. The two former were with her when death came. She also leaves five grandchildren.
The remains were shipped this morning to Quincy and thence over the O. K. for Knox City, where the funeral services will be held Saturday morning after which they will be conveyed to Newark and laid to rest in the old family burying ground.

NEWARK, MO
NEWARK, Mo., April 1.—Mrs. Elizabeth Lear, of Hannibal, was buried here last Saturday. She was the widow of Uncle Zack Lear, an old pioneer merchant of this place, who died here some years ago. We had known Mrs. Lear for about sixty years and can say she was a good woman in every way. A kind and helpful mate to her husband, kind and indulgent to her children and grandchildren and ever ready to lend a helping hand to all in distress, but alas, she has passed to the home, of the soul, there to receive the rewards that await all who doeth good in this life.
