Jillian Baedeker, the 19-year-old daughter of Hollywood Park president Rick Baedeker, died along with two friends following a car accident during the early morning hours of March 20, according to a report in The Los Angeles Times.

Baedeker, and friend, Nancy Le, 18, died at the scene and Chelsea Toma, 19, died about eight hours later at UCI Medical Center in Orange. The accident occurred when a driver ran a red light and slammed into their car in a Huntington Beach intersection.

The newspaper reported that police arrested James Paul Bell Jr., 27, of Rowland Heights on suspicion of felony drunk driving. Bell was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition Wednesday.

"Basically everyone's in shock and disbelief," said Mike Mooney, a spokesman for the racetrack. Family members said the women had gone out to a Starbucks coffee shop and were within two miles of Baedeker's home when the crash happened around midnight.

The Baedeker family publishes Baedeker's Guide, a professional handicapping journal sold at racetracks in California.
