Charles E. Lynch, age 82, of Stratford, died on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Mr. Lynch was born in Bridgeport, on January 16, 1923 and was the son of the late Charles and Florence Lynch. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche G. (Campbell) Lynch. He proudly served his country during World War II as a paratrooper with the Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. During his service he was awarded the Purple Heart. Charles was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He also worked as a bartender for many years at the Hunt Club, Longshore Country Club, and the Tokeneke Club. For many years, Charlie was a member of the Miamogue Yacht Club. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Diane Bishop of Derby, Patricia Syx and her husband, Richard, of Stratford and Pamela Jannetty and her husband, Jaime, of Stratford; nine grandchildren, Sherry Bishop Nathan and her husband, Allen, of Shelton, Ronald Bishop of Derby, Richard Syx of Stratford, Christopher Syx and his wife, Rebecca, of Pennsylvania, Melanie Syx of Stratford and Jillian, Jaclyn, Jeffrey and Joseph Jannetty of Stratford; three great-grandchildren, Mark, Jake and Luke Nathan of Shelton. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 9 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford, for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Anyone wishing to do so may make a donation in his memory to St. Vincent's Swim Across the Sound, C/O St VincentPs Hospital.
