GREAT BEND - Hester B. Heckens, 76, died
March 1, 1984, at Central Kansas Medical
Center, Great Bend, after a long illness.

Born Hester B. Barnum Aug. 30, 1907, at Lincoln.

She married Clarence Heckens in 1950 in
Arkansas. He died in 1981. She had been a
Great Bend resident since 1948, formerly
of Abilene.

She was a member of First Church of
Nazarene. Great Bend.

Survivors: sons, Harold L. Radke, Tahlequah,
Okla.; Clarence, Jr., of California;
daughters, Betty Pack, Abilene; Velma Birch,
Hutchinson; Faye Gatton, Ellinwood; May
Brown, Marie Kern and Helen Sanders, all
of Great Bend; brothers, Ed, St. Louis;
Paul, Kansas City; Roy, of England; Carl,
Osage City; Orville, Clinton, Mo.; sisters,
Juanita Spencer and Doris Relford,
both of Clinton, Mo.; 35 grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Fryberger Mortuary, Great Bend; the Rev.
Gayland Aubrey. Burial at Great Bend
Cemetery. Memorials to the church.
