Carl A. Reaser, 62, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 12:40 pm Monday, December 9, 2013. Born on February 26, 1951 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Ferdinand W. Reaser and Elda P. (Johnson) Price.
He enlisted in the US Army in September of 1968. After his training, he was sent to Da Nang Vietnam where he was wounded. After his recovery, he was stationed in South Korea and Germany before being discharged in Sept. of 1974. He retired from Weatherhead after 31 years before taking a job with the Whitley County Sheriff's Department as a Security Guard at the Columbia City Courthouse for four additional years. He was a member of the VFW Post 5582, the American Legion Post 68 and the Eagles Lodge Aerie 1906.
Survivors include his son, Craig (Charlene) Reaser of Columbia City; brother, Howard (Marilyn) Reaser of Howard, OH; grandchildren, Jaccob, Matthew and Michael Reaser, Gladys Kain, Merissa Perry, Jerrica and Jeremy Hearvey; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Father, Ferdinand W. Reaser; Mother, Elda P. (Johnson) Price.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Funeral honors will be rendered by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans at the funeral home. Private entombment at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Reaser's memory to the VFW.
