MOUNT AIRY, Mrs. Mabel Marie Boyd Rose, 84, of 303 E. Elm St., Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Elmer Elsworth & Nancy Elizabeth Marshall Boyd. She was a retired beautician and worked in child care for many years as well. Mrs. Rose was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters & three sons-in-law, Bobbie & Reggie Davis of Dobson, and Brookie Bunton, Myra & Bill Oakley, Toni & Danny Ledford, all of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren, Brandon Marion, Kim Collins, Jennifer Bowe, Toby Bunton, Alison Payne, Sasha Reddic, Kirbi Reddic and Alex Ledford; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorene West of Mount Airy; a brother & two sisters-in-law, Maynard & Emily Boyd of Monroe, GA, and Margaret Boyd of Ararat, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Starling Rose; a son, Gale Rose; two brothers, Eugene Boyd and Vernon Boyd; and a son-in-law, Gary Bunton. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Antioch Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dale Wallace and the Rev. Dale Gantt. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
