John S. Butts
John Sidney Butts of Muleshoe, Texas, was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Potawatomi County, Okla. He died Nov. 4, 2003, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock following a lengthy illness. Graveside rites were held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in WANETTE, Okla. John proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and retired as Gunnery Sergeant in 1970 following 20 years of service including duty in Vietnam. He married Virginia Choinski in 1972. While they lived in Lubbock, John served as operations superintendent at Lubbock International Airport and retired after 20 years with the city.
