Former Resident Dies in California
Mrs. John Farran Buried Here Tuesday.
Mrs. John Farran, who came to Primghar more than forty years ago, died Thursday, June 22, at Santa Ana, Cal., and was laid to rest beside her husband in Pleasant Hill cemetery Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted at Santa Ana Saturday and graveside services here Tuesday were in charge of Rev. J.L. Ralston, pastor of Trinity Methodist church.
The remains were accompanied to Primghar by Mrs. Farran's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Whitfield, of Santa Ana.
Born in Missouri in 1851, Indiana Creech was married in 1868 at the age of 17, to John Farran at Batchtown, Ill. About 1897 the family moved to Primghar and Mr. Farran built the house now occupied by the Nels Henline family. Here they lived until 1926, when Mr. Farran passed away. Shortly after Mrs. Farran went to California with her daughter and made that her home until her death at the age of 88 years.
Mrs. Farran was a home-loving woman, devoted to her husband and her children. During her residence in Primghar she attended the Methodist church.
Mr. and Mrs. Farran were the parents of six children, three sons, John and Charles who died in the past year; Clifford, Mrs. Jane Keller, Santa Ana, Cal., Mrs. M.C. Murray, Medford, Ore., and Mrs. Chas Witfield of Santa Ana.
