Sarah ANDREWS, living near Park postoffice, aged ninety-nine years and said to be the oldest woman in souther Indiana, made application for a widow's pension Tuesday afternoon. Her husband was in the war of 1812 and fought with Gen. JACKSON at the battle of New Orleans.
Sarah ANDREWS, one of the oldest, if not the oldest person living in this county, died Monday evening. She got up, dressed herself, took her customary smoke, washed and was ready for breakfast, feeling as well as usual. When her daughter had breakfast ready, she stepped into the room where the old lady was to bid her come to breakfast, and having done so turned to go back into the kitchen when she heard something fall. Looking back she saw her mother lying upon the floor apparently dead. She ran to the closest neighbors, about three hundred yards away, and when they returned they laid her on the bed and discovered signs of life and she rallied considerably, but in a short time before noon she expired. The real cause of her death is not known, but the expression generally is she died with old age. She was born in Virginia, July 24, 1791, and if she had lived till next July she would have been one hundred years old. She was married during the war of 1812 and her husband served in that war. He died several years ago. It is not often we find one where years have been so prolonged. Her physical endurance and resistance must have ben great to have withstood the attacks of enemies of life and the burdens that have been cast upon her.
