Jesse was born on September 6, 1960, the youngest of 10, to Rosario and Basilio Belena, in his native town of Livermore, California. Jesse didn't stray very far from home, as his childhood home is directly across the street from the home in which he presently lived on Albatross Avenue. His best friend was Tony Gallardo, whom he was always laughing and joking and playing around with. He attended Granada High school and graduated from Del Valle High School in Livermore. He met his former wife and mother to his children, Sylvia Campbell, in high school.
Jesse was a self-taught handyman with an endless number of DIY projects. He was also talented and skilled in the area of sketching and graphics with paper, pencil and pastels. He never lost the boy in himself, as he loved humor and was a big child at heart. However, he was a disciplinarian to his children and treated their friends like his own. They all learned to respect him, and his children's friends confessed they had respect for him and his approach to decision making and behavior. When the time came and there was a need to help out family, Jesse was there to help raise his nieces and nephews who needed a roof over their heads and guidance. He was deemed as the "favorite uncle". He was an excellent provider for his sons and family.
He is survived by his three sons; Daniel, Michael and Joseph, two grandchildren; Kamea Jade and Liam Anthony and older siblings; Florinda, Roger, Cesar, Ofelia, Frances and Roy.
Jesse spent the last fifteen years as a Water Resource Operator, assisting with the provision of clean water to the residents of his hometown. In his downtime, you could find Jesse casting his fishing pole from his boat, with his two dogs Sasha and Willie always at his side. He was a quiet man on his own, very analytical at times, and in tune with nature, much like St. Francis of Assisi and a fisherman like St. Vincent de Paul. He had other hobbies such as touring on his Harley, rolling around with his grandkids or firing it up over a backyard barbeque grill, where he would generally involve cracking a joke at one of our expense.
