John Henry Cyr, Sr., 71, of Santa Fe, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church 902 25th Street North in Texas City.

John was born October 19, 1938, in Galveston, Texas to Raymond Joseph Cyr and Minnie Kaiser Cyr. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and then returned to Galveston. He was a businessman that enjoyed his work and the people he came to know. He was a well-loved resident of Crystal Beach before he and his wife were displaced by Hurricane Ike.

Preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Joan Kay Roderick and Mary Lou Smith; survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, two daughters, and one son; three brothers, three sisters, five grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
