The body of Wm. H. Dawes was brought to this city (Greenwood, Clark County, Wis.), Friday evening from Wausau, Wis., where death occurred at the St. Mary’s Hospital Oct. 22nd, 1913. The sudden news of his untimely demise came to relatives and friends with a sudden grief that is greatly felt by them. Mr. and Mrs. Dawes and children were pleasantly located at Merrill, Wis., where he was connected with the shore factory. On Friday, Oct. 17, he was taken with an attack of peritonitis and two days later was removed to the hospital, where he died Wednesday morning at two o’clock, after an operation which was of no avail.
He leaves a wife and three children, parents, two brothers and four sisters to mourn a loss that is irreparable. He was always a tender and devoted husband, a kind and loving father, unselfish to the last degree.
Deceased has been connected with shoe factories at Stoughton, Sparta, La Crosse, Merrill and some years ago was in the shoe manufacturing business in this city, with his father. He was regarded a very competent workman by all who employed him. He was a member of good standing in the Beaver fraternity in Stoughton.
Funeral services were held at Merrill from the church whose faith he professed and Friday the body was brought to Greenwood. Short services were held at the grove by Rev. Hendren Saturday morning at nine o’clock and interment made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Dawes and children arrived her Friday evening and will continue to make their home here. They have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
