MARGARET BRIZENDINE HARDEN, 79, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin ("John") Woodrow Harden; parents, Bessie and Walter Brizendine; and three brothers and a sister.

Surviving are her sons, Bobby Harden and wife, Rebecca, Kenneth Harden, all of New Castle; daughters, Bonnie Harden, Desert Hot Springs, California, Lisa Strickler and husband John, Reta Anderson and husband, James, all of New Castle; five grandchildren, Tammy Todd and husband Chris, New Castle, Nicki Harden, Salem, Keith Harden, New Castle, John Valiant, Desert Hot Springs, California, Jody Harden, New Castle; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2000, at Crossroads Church, New Castle, by the Rev. Jack Ford and the Rev. Ernie Johnson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, (366-0707).
