Jacob and his younger sister both appear in the 1860 Bollinger county census, Jacob as an 8 year old. For that reason and the fact that Jacob's younger sister's birth year is 1853, as manager of the memorial, I made the decision that Jacob's year of birth is incorrect on the marker. I don't know if this was a mistake/oversight or an intentional attempt to cover the fact that he was 17 years older than his wife Mary. (Notice that her birth year isn't even listed on the marker). Also, the 1870 and 1880 census show his birth year as 1852 so that's why the memorial and marker do not match.

Gravesite Details

2 smaller "markers" or flagstones on either side of the main stone for Jacob and Mary. Possibly the smaller markers were original & the inscripted stone was added between the two burial spots at a later date.
