Mrs. Chas. H. Duer, 85, died at her home about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 3 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Duer had not been well for a number of years. She had been in a coma since Sunday and death was expected momentarily.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 5 in the First Congregational church. Rev. Walter Ross will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery. Casket bearers will be relatives of Mrs. Duer including Dr. Wayne Emerson, Dr. Orin Emerson, George Bawn, Will Hathaway, Ray Duer of Clarion and Lee Foll of Des Moines.

Mrs. Duer was born Adelaide Lottie Foll on June 29, 1865 in Lena, Illinois. She grew to young womanhood in Lena attending the public schools there.

She was married to Chas. H. Duer on February 12, 1896 in Lena and moved to Eagle Grove as a bride. She has resided here for the 55 years since with the exception of two years spent in Freeport, Ill., where Mr. Duer operated a Duer and Foll dry goods store. She has lived in the same home on West Broadway during all that time.

Mrs. Duer was a member of the First Congregational church and the P.E.O. and was active in both until her accident a few years back. She has served as a Deaconess of the church and was very interested and active in church affairs. She also took great pride in the four generations of her family which have belonged to the local Congregational church.

She is survived by her two sons, Harold of Eagle Grove and Willard of Kanawha and seven grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Will of Waukegan, Ill. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Foll of Eagle Grove and John of Lena, Ill., and her parents.
