Brian was the younger of two sons born to Mary Ann Rustay and Robert John O'Malley Sr. He attended the Northwest Area Schools where he was on the track team and graduated with the class of 1988. He had been employed at Sears Warehouse in Hanover Township and later at King Glass in Exeter. He had three sons.
