Richard Gallagher, a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Salida, died yesterday evening at 5 o'clock at his home in the addition, of pneumonia. He had been sick only since Saturday on which day he came in from his run feeling ill. Pneumonia soon developed and he grew rapidly worse until the end. A telegram was sent to his mother at Leavenworth, Kansas, but a reply was received that another son was at the point of death and that she could not leave him. The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 o'clock a.m. at the Catholic church, the deceased being a member of that denomination. Richard Gallagher was a native of Leavenworth, Kansas and was 52 years of age. He was a man well known and highly esteemed, though of a quiet and retiring disposition. He had for years been employed as fireman on the Rio Grande. He was a member of one fraternal order, the A.O.U.W. He has been a resident of Salida for ten years past.
He leaves a family consisting of his wife and six children: Ida, Mary and Murry, all of mature years, and Edward, Philbert and Ellen, the latter only two years old.
