She was a Christian of the Presbyterian Faith. She was born and raised in Mountainburg, Arkansas and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, AJ France and they now walk the fields of heaven together. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Lonnie and Katherine Elkins; brothers, Hugh, Omer and Ernie Elkins and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Elkins Payton.
She is survived by her daughter Martha Ellen France Cannon and son-in-law Charles. Her granddaughter Tessa Lynn Billingsley and husband Kenny, her great grandson Eric Zeal Billingsley all of Hot Springs, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her life was happy. Bernice loved to garden and cook. She and her husband AJ were involved in ranching and horse shows before their retirement to Hot Springs, AR.
The last four years of her life was spent living at the Nursing Facility in Mt. Ida, AR, fighting progressing Alzheimer's disease. She loved the staff that cared for her daily.
Graveside service will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday at the ancestral Vaught Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
