Regina "Jean" Barbara Resop, age 88, of Berlin, died peacefully early Saturday morning, November 26, 2011, at Berlin Memorial Hospital, in the company of her family.

She was born on May 17, 1923, in Berlin, the daughter of Frank and Anna Zeleske Kaskavage. Jean grew up in Berlin, graduating from Berlin High School with the Class of 1941. Right after graduation, Jean moved to Milwaukee and worked for a bank. Later she worked briefly as a CNA at Juliette Manor and also dry cleaners before assuming her vocation as a homemaker.

She married Clarence Abel, on June 20, 1952 at Saint Michael Catholic Church of Berlin. They became a family by being blessed with their daughter Mia, and shared 29 years together until his death in 1981.

Jean married Sylvester "Mike" Resop on August 31, 1984 at Saint Michael Catholic Church, enriching her life with the addition of five daughters. They enjoyed 27 years together until his death on September 12th of this year.

She loved her family more than anything. She loved having them close by and delighted that Mia, Dan and the kids lived only a few doors down the road. Jean used to love watching her grandchildren after school, even though they often nearly gave her a heart attack by climbing up too high on the apple trees in her backyard. Besides being with her family, Jean loved to read and she loved to cook. Upon entering her house, she would often be found on her favorite gliding rocker reading a book. As for her cooking, she had a few signature items that were so delicious; they will not be able to be replicated. Her "famous" chicken noodle soup was a favorite of her husband Mike, as well as anyone else who got to taste it. She also knew how to make an angel food cake so fluffy, it melted in your mouth. Jean always had an eye for fashion. Even at 88, she still loved to keep up with the latest trends, and nothing in her wardrobe fit the typical "old lady" style of clothing. She knew how to dress, accessorize and present herself very well.

Jean will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a very kind, caring and loving individual, and her sweet personality made everyone feel comfortable around her.

Regina is survived by her daughters; Mia (Dan) Johnson, Bonnie (Wayne) Lundt, Joni (G. Clare) Perr, Wendy (Rich) Swansby, Amy (Danny) Angle, all of Berlin, Jill(Jeff) Neitzke, of Panama City Beach, Fl., grandchildren; Kara, Matthew, and Michael Johnson, Gina (Chad) Leighton, Jamie (Laura) Lundt, Jon (Angie) Lundt, Clare Perr (special friends Kim and Lucas), Dacy and Lindsey Swansby, Jacob and Jennifer Angle, Jessika (fiancée Jeremy), Justine, Jake, and Jasey Neitzke, sister in law, Frieda Etrick, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, husbands, Clarence, and Sylvester "Mike", sister, Elynor, and grandson Jason Perr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at All Saints Catholic Church of Berlin, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Maksvytis will be officiating.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin. A rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
