Died at the age of 67 of a stoke of apoplexy

First married Rev. John Francis Gates, pastor of the Univeralist Church of Perry, NY.

Second married Judge Henry Clay McWhorter of Charleston, WV.

Survived by one son, Frank H. Gates of Santa Maria, Calif.; two daughters, Miss Jessie W. Gates and Mrs. D. H. Gates of Charleston.

Funeral from the M.E. church at Charleston and interment in Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston.
