Mrs. Sophia Fiddelke died last Thursday and resident of Paullina for many years; funeral services held Saturday.
Mrs. Sophia Fiddelke, for more than 20 years a resident of Paullina passed away at her home here Thursday morning, July 1. She came to this country with her parents in 1881 and settled in the Germantown community. Mrs. Fiddelke was well known here where she had large circles of friends. Following is the obituary: Mrs. Sophia Fiddelke the daughter of Fred Lustfield and Sophie Lustfeld, was born November 3, 1874, at Reburg, in the Providence of Hanover, Germany, where also she was baptized in the Lutheran Church. In the year 1881, she came with her parents to this country. She was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Germantown by pastor E. Zuerrer on March 25, 1888. On the third day of February 1894 she entered into holy a state of matrimony with John F. Fiddelke, Pastor Jacob Horn performed the ceremony. This union was blessed with nine children, four of whom, three sons and one daughter, preceded her in death. The Fiddelke's lived on for about 2 miles northwest of Germantown. On September 18, 1907, Mr. Fiddelke departed this life. In 1922 Mrs. Fiddelke, having lived a short time in Germantown established her residence in Paullina. She became a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
About two years ago she suffered a stroke which left her partially paralyzed and deprived her of the power of speech. During the night of Monday to Tuesday of last week she suffered a second stroke and on Thursday morning July 1, she departed this life at the ages 68 years, seven months and 28 days.
She leaves to mourn her parting; her children, Henry of Granville; Erna at home; Mrs. Ida Pauling, of Paullina; Walter of Granville; Mrs. Irene Niebuhr, of Paullina; 19 grandchildren, and one brother, Fred Lustfeld of Granville.
Funeral services were held last Saturday, July 3 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at two: o'clock in the afternoon, the Reverend Martin Peters, pastor of the church officiating. Interment was made at the Germantown cemetery.
