Howard Edward Townsend, Jr. infant son (5 months and 13 days) of Howard Edward and Ruth Clelland Townsend, R.R. 4 died at Dukes Hospital at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 1954. He had been ill since Friday and died of pneumonia and enteritis

The child was born at Dukes Hospital, April 1, 1954. Other survivors include a half-brother, Michael James Clelland (now Townsend..adopted by Howard Edward Townsend, Sr.), the maternal grandparents , Mrs. Clara Clelland R.R. 4 and John Clelland, Peru; the paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Townsend, Peru; and the great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Townsend, R.R. 3, Mrs. Mary See, R.R. 3, and Mrs. Nancy Troubaugh, Sparkey, Tennessee.

Funeral services were he lad at the Washington Avenue Wesleyan Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ruth Drake officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

He was a beloved brother whose short life has inspired his siblings to live their lives to the fullest.
