Funeral Services for J. J. Armstrong, Jr. Held Thursday

John Joshua Armstrong, Jr., died at the family home here Tuesday morning, January 9, after suffering a heart attack on Saturday. He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, from the Hubbard Funeral Home, with the Rev. S. R. Horwood local Methodist pastor officiating. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery. Rev. G. T. Hester of Lytle, Texas, former pastor here, assisted in the services.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. J., Armstrong, Mr. Armstrong was born Jan. 19, 1874, at Texana, near Edna in Jackson county. He came to Weimar with his parents when he was 5 years old. He was 70 years old at time of death.

Mr. Armstrong joined the Methodist Church here while Rev. J. J. Mason was pastor. He was united in marriage to Miss Lottie Falwell on June 14, 1899, in Weimar. By occupation he followed the trade of painter.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lottie Armstrong; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanora Simmons of Hutchinson, Kansas; two grandchildren, Kenneth Armstrong and Mary Harriet Simmons; one sister, Mrs. Evie Fulford of Weimar; one brother, Dan L. Armstrong of Houston.
