Born in Preston, Idaho, he was a son of the late John A. and LaVerne Olson Carver.
Dr. Carver was a 1945 graduate of the University of Oregon where he received his medical degree. He served in U.S. Public Health Service from 1945 until 1948. He then received a Masters Degree in Public Health from Tulane University in 1949. He was Administrator of Idaho Department of Health for 13 years. He and his family then moved to Greenville in 1972, where he became Medical Director of the first HMO in the Southeast. In 1979, he became a Medical Consultant for S.C. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, from which he retired in 1987. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Harriet Westfall Carver; a son and daughter-in-law, Terrell F. and Judith Carver, of Bristol, England; a son, Daniel M. Carver, of Greenville; two sisters, Anna Olson of Farmington, UT, and LaVerne Buckmaster of Portland, OR; two brothers, John Carver of Denver, CO, and Monroe Carver of Spokane, WA; and three grandchildren, Nick, Laurie, and Roger Carver, all of Bristol, England.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stephen R. Vance officiating. Entombment will be at Westminster Columbarium.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. - The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
