SOUTH BEND - Harriet Alice Tam, 91, of South Bend died Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Michiana Health and Rehab. She was born April 7, 1922 in Cheweiah, Washington to the late Robert M. and Fay R. (Shular) Duncan.
On February 11, 1945 in Washington she married Glen Dale Tam who died in 2000.
She is survived by her daughters Glenda Sachman of South Bend and Sandra Lehman of Edwardsburg, MI; son Dennis Tam of South Bend; Harriet's grandson, John H. Lehman, Jr. (Nicole) of Granger; step granddaughter Carrie Thompson of South Bend; four great grandchildren, Corey Miller (fiancé Tyler Long), Adam and Joseph Miller, and Henry Lehman; and a grandson-in-law, Terry Miller of Mishawaka.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tara Miller, six brothers, and three sisters.
She has 2 siblings who survive her, Fay Levin (Jules) in New Mexico and Donald Duncan (Dee) in California.
Harriet enjoyed traveling with her husband and they visited every state. She loved her grandchildren they were a joy in her life. Harriet loved gardening and playing cards.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North 17033 Cleveland Rd. Friends may visit with the family 2 hours prior to services. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice 1608 E.
