Georgia was the daughter of Michael and Justine (Gdyezinski) Grandus. Georgia retired in 1978 from WMU's Career Planing and Placement Department. She very much enjoyed her involvement with college students. She was a long time member of Saint Augustine Cathedral and it's Marian Guild, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) and the Kalamazoo Chapter of MARSP.
On October 2, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward C. Westrick of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, and infant son, Joseph Michael Westrick, and her sister, Alice Nowak. Surviving are three children; Marie (Michael) Doleski, Gregory Westrick, and James Westrick; granddaughter Kristin Westrick, all of Kalamazoo. Also by grandson, Andrew Doleski of Chicago, IL., sister, Stella Grandus of Kalamazoo, Brothers and sister-in-laws Garrett and Agnes Wennig of Sturgis, MI., Casey and Katherine Losiewski of Arkansas, and Arvada Westrick of Fresno, CA. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She left her children with many good memories, but more importantly, she left them with the unforgettable example of what a good mother and grandmother can be. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Saint Augustine Cathedral in Kalamazoo; Celebrant: Father Mark Vyverman, yet another nephew. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
