Joan Earle died peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by family and friends. Joan was born Joanne Walton in New York in 1933. In 1940 she became Joan Kennedy through adoption by her aunt and uncle. She showed an early talent for playing the piano, which she continually developed in spite of an inherited sight disability. She also polished her skills in sailing and ice-skating and enjoyed studying Carl Jung and other Philosophers. Her relationship with the renowned writer Victor Seroff propelled her piano playing ability to even greater heights. In 1972, Joan met the late Eyvind Earle-- for the second time-- at an artist reception held for him in Carmel, California. Their first meeting had been when he babysat for her twenty years prior to that time. They were soon married at the Kennedy home in NYC at Centre Island. Although Joan was plagued by illness during her life including terrible headaches and two types of leukemia, her spirit and zest for life continued on. She is survived by her brother, Terry Walton, her sister, Carolyn Doran, her stepdaughter, Kristin Thompson. Though she will be missed by family and friends, we are comforted by the fact that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Eyvind. A private service will be held for friends and family.NOTE: Burial is unknown and only for FindAGrave.
