Services for Julie A. Nelson, 33, of 4125 26th Ave., Rock Island, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m.today. Memorials may be made to the Lupus foundation.
Ms. Nelson died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline.
The former Julie Johnson was born Dec. 16, 1963, in Rock Island, the daughter of Richard and Beverly Needham Johnson. She married David W. Nelson in September 1991 in Rock Island.
She had been the charge nurse in the intensive care unit of Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, since 1988.
She was a 1981 graduate of Rock Island High School and 1985 graduate of Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation, she worked in the intensive care unit of St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla.
She was a member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses; St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island; played pool with Blackhawk Women's Wednesday night Eight Ball League. She enjoyed her many friends, boating, crafts and music. She was a very strong person and served as an inspiration to others in the way in which she coped with her own illness.
Survivors include her mother, Rock Island; a sister, Lisa Johnson, and a niece, Nicole Johnson, both of Moline; her grandmother, Marjorie Johnson, Rock Island; her grandfather, Harold Needham, aunts, Betty Davis, and her husband, Dr. John Barker, an uncle Richard Needham and his wife, Sharon, all of Moline; several cousins; and special friend Brad Pohl, Littleton, Colo. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Johnson, her grandfather, Harold Johnson, and her grandmother, Ebba Needham.
